Oklahoma Heritage Association  
Two of the main methods the Oklahoma Heritage Association uses to achieve its mission of preserving Oklahoma’s history and promoting pride in the state are educating Oklahoma students about the state’s rich heritage and honoring leaders who preserving Oklahoma history.

By offering more than $650,000 in scholarships each year to Oklahoma high schoolers, the Oklahoma Heritage Association hopes to encourage students to continue their educations in the state and then make their homes here.  Heritage Week competitions provide 4th through 12th grade students the chance to embrace their heritage, and win cash prizes for their efforts.

Each year, the Association offers awards and grant monies to outstanding Oklahoma educators.  Awards are also bestowed on individuals, organizations and periodicals that works to preserve Oklahoma history.


Oklahoma History Supplements
The Oklahoma Heritage Association is pleased to offer nine lessons that supplement the teaching of Oklahoma History at the 4th grade and high school levels and support Oklahoma’s PASS Objectives for the subject.

Each lesson can be downloaded below and includes activities for both 4th grade and high school students:

I AM OKLAHOMA
The goal of the “I Am Oklahoma” certificate is to encourage young Oklahomans, ages 8-17, to explore their own Oklahoma story through their family, community, and Oklahoma’s rich history. With this process will come a sense of pride in being an Oklahoman and celebrating the unique history of our great state.

To earn the certificate, participants will complete the required number of activities in each of the four sections: My Individual Oklahoma Story, My Community Story, the State of Oklahoma Story, and Oklahoma and the World.

Upon completion, students receive a certificate and free passes to visit the Gaylord-Pickens Museum.

Earning & Learning with Oklahoma
The Earning & Learning with Oklahoma program highlights Oklahoma’s most treasured resource—our people. Recognized as the leader in publishing Oklahoma’s history, the Oklahoma Heritage Association is increasing pride in being an Oklahoman while providing an opportunity for school groups, clubs, and organizations to raise much needed funds by celebrating one of their own.

Partnering agencies earn 50% of the retail price of the selected book(s) with no out-of-pocket investment. In many cases, the subject or author of the book is available as a speaker or for a book signing. In addition, the Association provides the materials necessary to make your fundraising event a success.

Top sellers receive passes to the award-winning Gaylord-Pickens Oklahoma Heritage Museum and a one-year subscription to Oklahoma: Magazine of the Oklahoma Heritage Association.
